The Grave is a beautifully lyrical movement, while the Allegro is a very exciting fast movement, with lots of broken chords, plus an added original cadenza guaranteed to please the audience. Play both movements as a recital opener, or just the Allegro as an encore.
A great showcase for fast spiccato. Comes complete with two piano parts, for orchestral and solo tuning.
Originally for "Viennese-tuned double bass. Highest pitch is A near the end of the fingerboard on the G string.
